It removes everything. Makeup, including waterproof. SPF, including mineral. A rich blend of plant oils, rice bran, macadamia, apricot kernel and more, melts it all on contact, so you're not dragging at your skin to shift it.
It rinses completely clean. Add water and the oil emulsifies into a light milk, then rinses away. No film, no slick on the basin, none of the residue that makes you want to cleanse a second time.
It's actually skincare. A full ceramide complex, three ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine, plus squalane and vitamin E. The barrier lipids most cleansers strip out, put back in. Skin feels conditioned, not tight. A cleanse that leaves your skin better than it found it.
It's gentle enough for every day. Non-comedogenic and fragrance-free, with bisabolol to keep it calm on reactive skin. Tested on sensitive skin. Use it morning, evening, or as a first cleanse, as often as you need.

Massage two to three pumps over dry skin, makeup, SPF and all. Take your time over anything stubborn like waterproof mascara. Add a little water and keep massaging as it turns to a light milk, then rinse clean. Use it in the evening, in the morning, or as a first cleanse before your usual one.

Rich Plant-Oil Blend: Rice bran, sunflower, macadamia, moringa, apricot kernel, bitter cherry seed, plum kernel and blackcurrant seed oils. Melts makeup, SPF and daily buildup on contact, then emulsifies with water and rinses clean.
Full Ceramide Complex: Three ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine. The barrier lipid system dermatologists recommend for compromised skin, and almost unheard of in something you rinse off. Most cleansing oils strip. This one leaves the barrier supported.
Squalane and Vitamin E: Lightweight moisture and antioxidant backup. Skin feels conditioned and comfortable, not tight or squeaky.
Bisabolol: Calming, derived from chamomile. Keeps the formula gentle enough for daily use and sensitive skin.

Use it on dry skin with dry hands. Massage first, add water second. That order matters. Bring water in too early and the oil won't get the chance to break everything down.
Double cleansing? Use this as your first step to melt off makeup and SPF, then follow with your usual cleanser. On a low-effort night it does the job perfectly well on its own.
Wearing waterproof mascara or heavy eye makeup? Massage gently over closed eyes and give it a few seconds to melt before you rinse.

All skin types, including sensitive. Fragrance-free, no essential oils, no oxybenzone, no octinoxate, no homosalate. Dermatologist tested.
Is Second Skin SPF 50 reef-safe?
Yes. It contains no oxybenzone or octinoxate, the two filters most associated with reef damage.
Can I wear Second Skin SPF 50 under makeup?
Yes. It absorbs instantly with no white cast or grease. Apply, let it settle for a minute, then carry on with your routine. 86.6% of trial participants agreed it layers well under makeup.
How often do I need to reapply Second Skin SPF 50?
Every two hours in direct sun, or after swimming, sweating, or towel-drying. Sunscreen wears off through movement, contact, and sweat regardless of formula.
How much should I apply?
Two finger-lengths for face and neck. Most people apply about half that, which significantly reduces the actual SPF protection you get. Apply generously.
Is Second Skin SPF 50 a chemical or mineral SPF?
It's a chemical SPF using four modern filters. We chose chemical filters because they absorb invisibly with no white cast and no chalky finish, which is what makes daily wear realistic. Both chemical and mineral SPFs are safe and effective when properly formulated.
Will Second Skin SPF 50 sting my eyes?
No. The formula is fragrance-free and uses gentle, non-irritating filters. It's also dermatologist tested.
Is Second Skin SPF 50 pregnancy-safe?
We always recommend checking with your GP or midwife before changing your skincare routine during pregnancy. The formula contains no oxybenzone, which is the SPF filter most often flagged. Your doctor is the right person to advise.
Can I use Second Skin SPF 50 with retinoids?
Yes, and you should. Retinoids increase sun sensitivity, so SPF is non-negotiable the morning after. This one makes it easy.
What's the difference between Second Skin SPF 50 and the Overachiever Daily Moisturiser?
The Overachiever is your moisturiser: brightening, barrier support, antioxidant protection, hydration. Second Skin is your SPF: broad-spectrum sun protection with four-type hyaluronic acid. Moisturiser first, SPF on top in the morning. Two products, two minutes.
What does Innerbottle® mean?
The bottle has an airless balloon inside that collapses as you pump, leaving less than 1% of product behind. The outer bottle is easily recyclable with no rinsing required. Don't unscrew the pump until the bottle is empty.
