Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 FAQ
What is the full ingredient list (the INCI)?
Ingredients: Aqua, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Niacinamide, Silica, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Panthenol, Propanediol, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Gossypium Herbaceum Callus Culture, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Pentylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin
Is Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 a mineral or chemical sunscreen?
This is a chemical sunscreen—designed with advanced UV filters (that's UVA and UVB) that absorb seamlessly into your skin for high, invisible protection.
Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat, which is then released from the skin. This makes them ideal for daily wear because they tend to be lighter, more breathable, and less likely to leave a white cast.
Does this protect against UVA & UVB?
Absolutely. It's broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection, shielding your skin against both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.
Does this protect against Blue Light?
Thanks to antioxidant-rich cotton plant stem cell extract, it helps defend your skin against blue light damage from screens and daily environmental stressors.
Does Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 leave a white cast?
Nope. Our Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 formula uses advanced, invisible UV filters—so it melts in without a trace and leaves no white cast. It's also great under make-up - it does not pill and provides a lovely glowy, hydrating base for makeup. No one will ever know you're wearing it.
How often should I apply SPF?
Every. Single. Day. Apply generously in the morning—and reapply every two hours. Sun protection isn’t a once-a-day thing.
How much SPF should I apply?
Use about two fingers' worth for your face and neck. Don’t be shy—proper protection means a generous layer.
Is Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 non-comedogenic?
While we haven’t officially tested for a “non-comedogenic” label, this formula is formulated without pore-clogging ingredients like mineral oils, heavy silicones, and lanolins.
Is this suitable for oily skin?
Yes. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly, leaving a natural skin-like finish. No heavy, shiny residue here.
Is this suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. It’s fragrance-free, alcohol-free, essential oil-free, dermatologically tested, and safe for sensitive skin.
Do I need to wear SPF in winter?
Yes. UV rays don't hibernate. They’re present even on cloudy, cold days, and UVA rays (the ones responsible for premature aging) can pass through windows, clouds, and even airplane glass. Daily SPF is your skin’s year-round insurance—especially if your desk is near a window or you’re a fan of the window seat on flights.
Does it work well under makeup?
Yes. NecessaryGood Protected & Hydrated SPF 50 has an invisible, non-greasy finish that plays well with primers and foundation. No pilling, no sliding. Invisible Comfort. Serious Protection. No White Cast. Because we believe you shouldn't have to chose between protecting your skin and looking great.
Is this water-resistant?
This SPF is not water-resistant. If you're swimming or sweating heavily, you’ll need to reapply regularly and top up with a water-resistant SPF where needed.
Do I still need to moisturise?
Depends on your skin. This SPF is hydrating enough that many skin types can wear it solo. If your skin runs dry, you can layer it over your regular moisturiser for extra comfort.
